You'll definitely save time and money when you use the Whitby Clamp in place of tying your cast-in channels. How much? Depends on how much the 'old' way would have screwed things up.

It's not unusual for 25% of tied cast-in channels to move outside accepted tolerance and have to be remedied. With the Whitby Clamp, that percentage drops to zero.

But for starters, think of this: It is placed in one minute by an adept operative, compared with up to 30 minutes for the old manual system, using a skilled tradesman.

Here's the maths in detail:

If we say the project comprises a six story building with a floor plan of 60m x 20m.

Lets assume the channels are cast in to the slab perimeter at every 1200mm then the number of channels per floor is 133.

Average time of say 15 minutes per channel to fix into position via traditional methods x 133 = 33.25 tradesman hrs @ say £16 per hr = £532

Statistically an average 25% require additional works due to being either cast out of tolerance or requiring relocating because they have been buried when concrete is placed. Therefore 25% of 133 = 33 channels per floor requiring remedial works at say one hour per channel = 33 hrs labour costs @ £12 per hr = £396 + £532 = £928 per floor.

Using the Whitby Clamp System the average time taken to fix a channel into position is one minute x 133 = 2.2 hrs @ £12 = £26.40 per floor with no remedial works required.

If we say that two operatives allocated to fit the channels by traditional methods would be 33.25 hrs breakdown by 2 = 16.5 hrs equating to 2 days.

If we than set this against programme which in turn relates to prelim costs at £19,320 per week = break down by 5 x 2 = £7,728.

To further break this down we may say that only the remedial works contribute to additional prelims this being 33 hrs break down by 2 = 16.5hrs being 2 days @ £3,864 per day = £7,728.

Remember the example calculation is based on 1 floor!

In order to get a realistic figure multiply this by 6 floors which equates to 12 days delay to the programme and £46,368 additional prelims.

You could say that the prelim should be diminishing due to less operatives on site which is true for the concrete frame contractors. But the delay to the main contractor could easily be 5 x this amount, this being £231,840 which could be a possible claim.
